OKBET MPBL expand to GenSan and Sarangani

OKBET MPBL the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) recently played games in the house of its founder, boxing legend Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao. MPBL games were hosted in General Santos City and Sarangani through OKBET, a local gambling site, and were crowded with basketball fans cheering on their home side.

Former Senator Pacquiao and General Santos Mayor Lorelie Geronimo-Pacquiao performed the ceremonial opening toss of the game between host GenSan and Bacolod on September 5 at the Lagao Gymnasium to kick off the “OKBET MPBL Goes to GenSan and Sarangani” series.
The games are part of the sportsbook’s statewide push to promote the MPBL while honoring various regions’ unique traditions. The first phase of the tournament took place on September 5-6 at the Lagao Gymnasium, coinciding with the Tuna Festival celebrations in General Santos City. The Bacoor City Strikers, Quezon City MG Cars, Bacolod Bingo Plus, and the local team GenSan Warriors OKBET MPBL were among the teams who competed.
After a two-day hiatus, MPBL play resumed on September 9-10 at the Sarangani Provincial Capitol Gymnasium in Alabel, Sarangani, with teams from Bacolod, Quezon City, Muntinlupa, and the host Sarangani Marlins OKBET MPBL.

On September 5 at the OKBET MPBL, Bacoor City defeated Quezon City 96-77, while GenSan defeated fellow South Division club Bacolod 76-73. On September 6, Bacolod defeated Quezon City 79-64, while GenSan won a tough game against Bacoor 75-74.
On September 9, Bacolod defeated Muntinlupa, 93-83, while Sarangani defeated Sarangani, 90-67. On September 10, Quezon City eventually defeated Muntinlupa, 79-77, while Sarangani fell to the visiting Bacolod quintet, 74-89. OKBET MPBL continues its line of corporate social responsibility efforts throughout the two-day gap between matches, going beyond sports enjoyment.

In support of the LGU’s inclusion initiative for people with disabilities, the corporation gave ten wheelchairs to the municipal administration of GenSan. The event was conducted on September 7 at General Santos City Hall, with Geronimo-Pacquiao represented by City Councilor Orlando Acharon.
OKBET MPBL also hosted a young basketball clinic in the Sarangani Provincial Capitol Gymnasium, which was overseen by head coach John Kallos of Sarangani. With a 13-5 record, Sarangani is presently seventh in the team rankings. With a 12-5 card, GenSan is sixth.
Nueva Ecija leads the 22-team competition with a perfect record in 18 games, followed by Batangas City on OKBET MPBL (16-2).
